With such glorious weather on the weekend it was perfect for visiting the New Amsterdam Markets on the site of the old fish markets at the South Street Seaport. The markets are relatively recent but already bring a whole new energy to the area. Previously at that stretch of the east river bikeway we would hit a wall of tourists buying $50 fish & chips and $5 louis Vuitton handbags. Now we can all feast on fresh alternative goodies – at least until the winter sets in – like delicate & delicious Dutch poffertjes, superb blackberry honey icecream, Mexican chocolate ( traditionally made only with coarse ground cacao and sugar ) and ryevolutionary Finnish bread. There’s change in the air here in NYC!
